3 Favorite Restaurants: Guatemala City

This lockdown has me thinking about all the things we may not get to do here in Guatemala before we have to leave. One thing I miss the most is being able to eat out. Here are our three favorite restaurants in Guatemala City for every time of the day.

Breakfast Spot: L’Osteria de Saul

There isn’t much that L’Osteria de Saul doesn’t have. Located in a beautiful outdoor garden this restaurant is perfection. Our favorite things on the menu include their coffee, cleaner smoothie, avocado toast and the french toast. The girls loving playing in the adorable play house they have set back into the garden. There is even chalk inside to be able to draw and write on the walls and constellations drawn out on the inside of the roof. It’s exactly the magical secret garden I always dreamed of having when I was a little girl.

Lunch: San Roman

The perfect environment for a long lunch this roof top spot has a menu that changes weekly. Grab yourself a glass of wine or Michelada and enjoy a slow paced lunch of shared plates while you take in the beautiful Guatemala City weather. If you go for lunch Monday-thursday you will find it to be a quiet serene scene but the weekends can bring a more lively crowd. We even had a DJ when we were there one Friday afternoon.

Dinner: Del Griego

An authentic greek restaurant in the heart of the city; Del Griego never disappoints. Not only is the food delicious but they have live music Wednesday -Saturday evenings that sets a wonderful relaxed social atmosphere for a dinner out. Everything is delicious but the lamb chops are a must order. I’m not sure how it’s possible that I don’t have any photos of this place…my theory is I’m always too excited to begin eating to snap any. It’s a lovely casual environment with the right amount of Greek kitch.

If you are ever lucky enough to have time in Guatemala City I highly recommend hitting up the three spots. They are our favorites and I hope we can visit them again before it’s time to move back home.
