For this weeks kids craft here are three ideas for simple crafts to make with your used toilet paper rolls.
2 finished toilet paper rolls
string, yarn or ribbon
To create the binoculars we just simply glued paper around the roll. You could also just tape the paper but using glues allows the kids to get more involved and takes longer which is a win for crafts with kids. After we wrapped the rolls in paper then you just need to attach them together again using glue or tape.
For the strap we just used gift wrap ribbon that we had handy but you could use string, yarn or anything you have in your home. Simple tape to the inside of the tube and voila! Toilet paper tube binoculars. We sang going on a bear hunt a few times and then they were over them. Over all this craft and play time got us about an hour of activity.
How adorable is this little village!? For this I used 5 toilet paper rolls and one paper towel tube cut in half.
I precut the rectangles out for covering the tubes along with the black windows so the girls could just start attaching.
For the two story buildings I cut slits in the tubes to have them slid onto each other.
I did this off to the side because I thought the crooked towers felt more fairytale like but you could do them straight on to make sky scrappers if that’s more your style.
Neva helped to cut the shapes for the roof. we made a rectangle with curved top corners to make the cone roof.
Use your imagination to create a village of any shape or size.
This mermaid and hula dancer is definitely meant for a more advanced kids so Adilia sat this one out for Neva and I to go to work.
This craft had a lot of good little details for Neva to practice her fine motor skills. From cutting the grass skirt, drawing the design on the mermaids tail or even drawing the face. She had to focus hard to create the finished look.
I hope you are inspired to create something fun with your kids. Happy crafting!
