Someday is Today

Mi Casa

Well friends, we made it. We officially have a new president. My heart is soaring with so many emotions after the Inauguration ceremony. I feel like as a country we can all take a collective sigh of relief. A real deep breath for the first time in four looonng years.

Trump becoming president was really hard for me to process. As a Jewish family and a women married to a latin immigrant it was hard to accept that so many people would support a man who seemed to hate anyone different from himself. However, today is a good day. Today ended an era of hatred and entered an era of unity.

The momentousness of today is not something that we should take lightly. We have a female Vice President friends! I found myself watching the inauguration with tears in my eyes. Seeing my girls watch a women be sworn in as vice president of the United States was something I will never forget.

The tension our bodies have held since Trump took office began to lift. The weight is beginning to lighten. There is a lot of work ahead of us, but after listening to President Biden speak I have more faith and trust that we as Americans are good and that together we can do great things. We can do hard things. We can, together, move past the divisiveness of the last four years and into a new era of unity.

Yes, there is work ahead but let’s celebrate the victory of today. Tonight my girls will go to sleep with an example of how high they can aim. Madam Vice President Harris is the first, but she will not be the last.

Cheers to brighter days ahead.
