Quarantine Day 46…It’s May.

Well friends, it’s a new month. We are welcoming in May with excitement, sadness and much anticipation. May has always been the month we were planning on returning to Evanston. It was supposed to be a month filled with many trips to the beach and a lot of quality time spent with Joe’s family. Instead it is looking like more of the same. More time just the 5 of us in our apartment.

(Incase you are all wondering who the 5th person is I’m including our nanny Fernanda in this because she is a member of our little family unit). May is going to be a waiting game. Waiting to hear if we can travel to the beach, waiting to hear if we can see Joe’s family, waiting to see if they will open the borders and waiting to see when and how we will get home.

I’m not good at waiting. I am a future thinker. I’m always on to the next project, next activity …next trip. But now, all we can do is wait.

As our furniture slowly sells and our apartment becomes more and more sparse the waiting only gets harder. So we are trying to stay positive and creative in our activities. Trying to stay positive and believe things will be better in Evanston by the time we return. Hoping we can see our friends we have missed so much while we’ve been away this year and hoping everyone we love stays healthy.

The emotional roller coaster of quarantine isn’t all bad though friends. Even though we are separate from those we love I have felt so close to so many. Sharing in common struggles, and wins big and small. We are coming together as humans realizing our innate similarities and weaknesses but more importantly our strengths. That my friends is the key to remember. We all suffer but we are all strong. What we are feeling and experiencing is temporary and things will get better. We don’t know when but for now, we hope and we wait, together.

Stay safe and sane friends. It’s a new month and we are in this together.
